This project documents the transformation of the former Black Prince Distillery site in Clifton, New Jersey, over a three-year period.
Photographed from a unique vantage point across the street, these images record the demolition of long-standing industrial structures, the clearing of the property, the arrival of construction crews and equipment, and the gradual emergence of what is now Clifton Co Apartments.
What began as a simple act of observation evolved into an extensive visual record of change. The photographs preserve not only the physical transformation of the site, but also a moment in the history of Clifton as one chapter ended and another began.
These images serve as both a documentary record and a reflection on the passage of time, capturing a landscape that many residents knew for decades before it disappeared and was replaced by a new community.
This collection represents a selection of photographs from the larger project and is part of an ongoing effort to preserve and share the visual history of Clifton, New Jersey.
